The Equity Integrator

Nylah Oliver, MPA

Head of Resident Engagement & Social Impact, The Promise Homes Company

Urban Planner | ESG Strategist | Community Advocate

Nylah Oliver is a purpose-driven leader working at the intersection of real estate, social impact, and community empowerment. As Head of Resident Engagement & Social Impact at The Promise Homes Company, she leads strategies that improve resident experiences while advancing equity and opportunity within the communities Promise Homes serves. Her work ensures that affordable, sustainable housing is not just available—but anchored in dignity, trust, and long-term wellbeing.

Through my work in social responsibility, I have helped create opportunities for first-time homebuyers, minority- and women-owned businesses, and students, ensuring that access and equity are at the forefront of my line-of-business initiatives. Seeing these efforts make a tangible impact has been incredibly rewarding.
My contributions have also been recognized within the industry, including my acceptance of the SFR Rising Star Award and the ESG Initiative of the Year Award for my company, which reflects the value of this work. More than anything, I’m proud that I’ve been able to drive meaningful change while proving that business success and social impact can go hand in hand.

Prior to joining Promise Homes, Nylah managed social sustainability and impact initiatives at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a global commercial real estate services firm. There, she also served as Co-Chair of the DEI&B Subcommittee within the company’s Sustainability division, helping to embed equity and inclusion into operational frameworks and ESG strategy.

Her academic foundation includes a Master of Public Administration in Urban Planning and Economic Development from Georgia State University’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Digital and Broadcast Journalism, with a minor in Anthropology, from the University of Georgia.

Nylah’s career is marked by her ability to bridge business and social good. She has helped unlock homeownership for first-time buyers, advanced opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses, and built programs that elevate student pathways into the real estate industry. These contributions earned her the SFR Rising Star Award and her company the ESG Initiative of the Year Award—recognizing both her leadership and the measurable impact of her work.

Her philosophy is deeply rooted in wisdom passed down through generations.“Right before I finished grad school, my grandmother told me, ‘Finish like a cloud—floating above everything else.’ That’s always stuck with me. Grace under pressure. Focus on the big picture. Rise above.”

Nylah also credits her mother as her greatest inspiration. “She showed me that resilience doesn’t mean standing still—it means pivoting when needed and continuing to climb. Because of her, I don’t just dream—I act.”

To her younger self, she would say, “If you’re praying for rain, bring the umbrella. Success requires preparation. Be ready to receive what you ask for—sharpen your skills, build your network, and show up with purpose.” Today, through every role she occupies, Nylah Oliver continues to redefine what it means to lead in real estate—with empathy, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to equity.
