Maggie O’Sullivan

Senior Vice President, Global Commercial Banking, Bank of America

Former Head of Community Development strategy for Global DOI at JPMorgan Chase

Maggie O’Sullivanhas played a critical role in aligning institutional capital with the communities that need it most. With more than three decades in banking, her career has spanned business development, credit, special credits, and global corporate banking. This included leading efforts to advance affordable housing and inclusive growth by bridging internal business lines, external partners, and public-sector leaders. In her current role at Bank of America, Maggie serves middle market companies and financial sponsors to deliver strategic capital, treasury solutions, and advisory support to help them grow and thrive.

My role in the real estate industry was both as a connector and as an advocate for leaning in to develop creative solutions for housing access and supply,” she says. On a practical level, that often involved fostering collaboration between internal teams and developers pursuing catalytic projects in their communities. I often served as a connector, helping developers realize the full spectrum of support that is available.

At the core of Maggie’s work is a deep belief in identifying and addressing the unique needs of her clients and their communities to foster sustainable growth and development. “The key is to use a  data-driven approach to align resources with needs, ensuring that efforts are both targeted and effective. It’s critical to track funding and quantitative outcomes to measure the tangible impact of these initiatives. Beyond the numbers, I was deeply invested in the qualitative impact of this work. This involved helping to create long-term, systemic changes by building connections and developing solutions that have a lasting effect for both the communities we serve, our business, and the broader economy.”

Her impact extends beyond her day job. Maggie serves as Board Secretary of the Orange County United Way, is a Board Member of Girl Scouts Orange County, and she is always looking for more ways to lean in and serve the community. Whether supporting local leaders or mentoring emerging professionals, her work is grounded in collaboration and trust.

Throughout her career, Maggie has followed a core piece of advice from a mentor: “Always try to take the high road.” That simple guidance has shaped how she navigates complexity—with integrity, long-term focus, and a commitment to doing what’s right. To her younger self, she’d offer this: “Recognize the value of building a strong network and supporting others. Networking isn’t just about expanding your circle—it’s about cultivating meaningful relationships that guide and sustain you.”

From her early years in Detroit to her leadership in Southern Caliornia, Maggie has remained focused on what matters: bridging the distance between capital and community through clarity, purpose, and data-informed action.
